Workshop “Die Geschichte hinter meinem Bild”/ “The story behind my picture”
In diesem Workshop werden wir uns mit historischen Fotos, die in den Jahren 1937-45 im KZ Buchenwald entstanden sind, auseinandersetzen und die abgebildeten Orte selbst fotografieren (bitte Digitalkameras mitbringen!). Kleingruppen entscheiden sich für jeweils ein Foto, über das sie mehr herausfinden möchten: Was für ein Ort/ historisches Ereignis ist auf dem Foto abgebildet? Wer hat das Foto in welcher Absicht gemacht? Nach der Recherche gehen wir ins Gelände und fotografieren die Orte so, wie wir sie heute vorfinden. Aus diesen Materialien – dem historischen Foto, den Hintergrundinformationen und dem aktuellen Foto – wird am Ende eine Präsentation, z.B. ein Poster, gestaltet. Dabei werden wir uns Gedanken machen, wie man die Differenz zwischen der historischen und der heutigen Situation darstellen kann.
In this workshop we will learn more about historical photographs taken at Buchenwald concentration camp during the years 1937-45, and take photos of the places depicted on them (please bring your digital cameras!). Small groups of pupils will choose one photo, about which they would like to find out more: Which place/ which event is depicted on the photo? Who has taken the photo, and for what purpose? After doing some research, we will go on the premises and photograph the places, as we see them today. With this material – the historical photo, the background information and today’s photo – we will create a presentation, such as a poster. We will think about ways to express the difference between the historical and the present situation.
